Self-Reflection and Journal by GOH KAI JUN KIE170027 As a second-year undergraduate student of Electrical Engineering, we are going to take Social Engagement course in this semester which is our Semester 2 2018/19. Social Engagement is a university course which every university student is compulsory to take this. This course is a course or an opportunity for a university student to involve and participate in a community or society. Hence, when I was going to take this course, my mind is am I going to help society like visiting old folks or orphan and maybe cook for them or play with them. I think that it is going to be fun since we can spread our positive energy and love to them besides let them understand that there is someone in this world who took care of them. But all this is only my imagination. During our briefing day of Social Engagement, all of us were distributed equally into a few groups. My group is Group 14 which there are 11 of us in this group. After that, the lectu...

Self Reflection by   Yeow Khai Er KIE170511 First of all, I never imagined that our project for social engagement to be field-related. But, we are the lucky ones. Electrical Engineering students are given the chance to involve themselves in projects and activities that are proposed by the Malaya Electrical Students Association (MESA) for social engagement.  After a short discussion, our team chose to engage in the BEGIN challenge as mentors. BEGIN is an abbreviation for "Beyond Engineering Innovation", the objective of competition is to encourage high school students from all across the country to innovate and design a science related project that is applicable in the real world. As for this year, the task is to design a project that could cater to the various needs at oil palm plantations. After we decided our project for social engagement, we started to outline our tasks and objectives. We gave a presentation about our plan and project to our superviso...

13.3.2019: Presentation Day Our group's presentation slot was on 15:00 at the block Y student clinic with Dr Chua. On my way to venue I was worried that I may not make it in time for the proposal presentation, and it was specially important to me to attend as I had no idea what my group was doing, as I didn't meet them before that. I get to the venue about 5 minutes late, but it seemed my group hadn't presented yet-that was a blessing. Student clinic was brimming with students, and there were two lecturers facing the projector screen towards the other end, evaluating another group's proposal. It was a shock to me that almost all the students that were suppose to be only observing, were speaking, and they were speaking quite loudly that it was necessary for one to focus hard on the presenter to understand them. I waited for about 7 minutes ,and it still wasn't our group's turn to present. I left the room then. I think it was for two reasons that I left, firstl...
